What is a Subdomain?
A subdomain is an extension of your primary domain that acts as a separate section for your online content. For example, if your primary domain is yourdomain.com
, a subdomain like blog.yourdomain.com
or sales.yourdomain.com
can be used for specific purposes, such as hosting a blog or a sales funnel. Connecting a subdomain to ClickFunnels allows you to use it exclusively for your funnels while keeping your main website intact.
Step 1: Configure DNS Records in Cloudflare
Follow these steps to add a CNAME record for your subdomain in the DNS Zone Editor:
- Navigate to the DNS Settings:
- Access your Cloudflare account and select the domain for which you want to add a subdomain.
- Go to the DNS tab to manage your domain’s DNS records.
- Add a CNAME Record
- Click Add Record.
- Set the Type to CNAME.
- In the Name field, enter your subdomain (e.g.,
blog
,sales
). - In the Target field, enter
target.clickfunnels.com
. - Ensure the proxy status is set to DNS Only (grey cloud icon).
- Select the TTL as Auto.
- Click Save.
Step 2: Add the Subdomain in ClickFunnels
- Access your ClickFunnels account and navigate to Account Settings > Domains.
- Click Add New Domain.
- Select Use an Existing Domain.
- Enter your subdomain (e.g.,
blog.yourdomain.com
). - Enable the option This domain is registered on Cloudflare.
- Click Add Domain.
- As Step 1 of this article explains, ensure the required CNAME record is already present in your Cloudflare domain DNS.
- After adding the subdomain, click I’ve Done This Step.
- Wait for ClickFunnels to verify the DNS settings. If verification fails, double-check the CNAME record in Cloudflare.
- Once verified, ClickFunnels will display a success message.
- You can associate a funnel from your ClickFunnels account to load by default when the domain is visited. Select a funnel from the dropdown list and click Associate Funnel, or click Just Show Me My Domains to skip this step.
Congratulations! Your subdomain is now verified in your ClickFunnels workspace. Proceed to Step 3 below to enable and verify the domain's SSL.
Note:
1. If verification does not succeed, ensure your CNAME record points to target.clickfunnels.com
and has the proxy status set to DNS Only.
2. If you are using the automatic method to integrate a subdomain, you can skip Step 1, as ClickFunnels will automatically add the required CNAME record for you. During the integration process, you will need to authorize your Cloudflare account to complete the subdomain setup.
Step 3: Enable and Verify SSL
- Return to Account Settings > Domains in ClickFunnels.
- Locate your subdomain and click Edit.
- Expand the SSL section and click Add SSL.
- Wait for the SSL to provision (this can take up to 15 minutes).
- Once complete, click Check Now to verify SSL is active.
- Upon successful verification, ClickFunnels will display a success message. Your domain's status will now show as Secured.
Note:
If it has been more than 25 minutes and the SSL cannot be checked, and your subdomain is not SECURED, please reach out to our support team for further assistance.
Additional Tips
- Propagation Time: DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to propagate globally. If your subdomain isn’t working immediately, wait and try again later.
- Cloudflare Settings: Ensure the proxy status for the CNAME record is set to DNS Only (grey cloud icon) to avoid connectivity issues.
- Multiple Subdomains: You can connect multiple subdomains by following the same steps for each subdomain.
