How to Buy a New Domain Through ClickFunnels
Securing a custom domain is vital for establishing your online presence and brand identity. ClickFunnels simplifies this process by serving as a bridge to IONOS, a reputable third-party domain registrar. While ClickFunnels does not offer an internal domain registration service, it integrates with IONOS to facilitate domain purchases. When you initiate a domain purchase in ClickFunnels, you will be redirected to IONOS to complete the purchase. This article will guide you through each step of buying a new domain via ClickFunnels, using IONOS’s services to ensure a smooth and efficient experience.
Important:
- As of May 30th, 2024, ClickFunnels no longer offers internal domain registration services.
- Domain purchased through ClickFunnels are purchased and managed through IONOS.
- The domain DNS records and other domain settings must be managed within your IONOS account.
Note:
- We currently do not support Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs). Special characters are letters that are not in the English alphabet. Some examples of special characters are æ, ø, å, ö, ä, ü and é.
- Domain names with trademarked phrases cannot be added or used in ClickFunnels. Click here to view restricted phrase list.

Although your domain has been added to your account, it is not yet secured with SSL. To ensure that your funnel pages load with HTTPS, you need to add and verify SSL for your domain. Follow the steps below to secure your domain with SSL:
- Return to the "Domains" page and access the domain settings by either clicking on the domain name or selecting the "Three Dot Icon > Edit" next to it.
- Scroll to "SSL" and click "Expand".
- Click the "Add SSL" button.
- After this, the domain status will change to "Securing" on the Domains page
- Wait for the system to add SSL to the domain. After a few minutes, go to "Domain Settings > SSL > Expand," and then click the "Check Now" button.
- If the SSL propagation is successful, a success message will appear. If not, you will need to wait longer for the propagation to complete and check back again later.
Important:
- Please note that SSL propagation can sometimes take up to 72 hours. - Once the SSL propagation is completed, the domain status will change to "Secured" on the domains page.
Congratulations! You now know how to buy a domain through IONOS and connect it to ClickFunnels.
Domain Default and 404 Page:
It's crucial to establish a Default Page and a 404 Page once your domain is verified. Without a designated default page, your domain will automatically redirect to the ClickFunnels Homepage.
Domain Default Page: Ensure your visitors are directed to the right place by setting up a default page for your domain. This ensures a seamless user experience from the moment they land on your domain.
Domain 404 Page: Even with careful planning, users may occasionally encounter broken links or unavailable pages. Create a custom 404 Page to gracefully guide users back on track when they encounter a dead end.
